Masouros & Partners advises PPC Group on strategic energy storage joint venture with METLEN

Masouros & Partners advised Public Power Corporation (PPC Group) on a major strategic transaction involving a joint venture with METLEN Energy & Metals for the development of a portfolio of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects across Europe.

The joint venture will develop, construct and operate storage facilities with a combined capacity of up to 1,500 MW / 3,000 MWh across Romania, Bulgaria and Italy.

These projects will deploy advanced liquid-cooled battery technology designed to optimise renewable energy production and enhance grid stability across the region.

The collaboration combines PPC’s strong operational presence across Southeast Europe with METLEN’s extensive experience in the development and construction of energy infrastructure, creating a platform for the rapid rollout of storage projects supporting Europe’s energy transition.

Masouros & Partners, including Pavlos Masouros, Antonis Nikolaidis and Dimitris Marmarotouris, advised PPC Group on the legal aspects of the joint venture transaction.
